Looking to give your back a break and get cozy at the campfire? The Mountain Summit Stadium Seat is lightweight, sturdy and perfect for back at home or out in the backcountry.
The quick and dirty:
Weight: about 1 lb
Size: The fiberglass frame is 17 by 17
Mountain Summit boasts foam padded seats in the front and back, carrying handles and adjustable straps to customize the angle of the seat.
This chair lays flat in a suitcase, or in the back of a car so it’s easy to throw in and take with you to your campsite. Once there it doubles as a pad to sit on at a picnic table or as a campfire seat. It’s sturdy and durable. I’m a 5”8’, slender woman and my stadium seat has never broken or even frayed for that matter. I fit comfortably. On the opposite end of the spectrum, my 6”2’, wide-shouldered hiking-mate, says it’s a comfy fit for him too. You will be sitting on the ground around the campfire. This seat does not have legs or any fancy bells and whistles.
I’ve even taken my stadium seat into the backcountry with me. It is padded, but it rolls up pretty well. If you’re going for more than a week, I’d say the seat probably doesn’t take precedence. For my two night romp in the woods though – it was perfect. I had enough room in my pack and was happy to have a comfy, supported seat to park it after the 11-mile days.
Here’s my take: I would recommend the Mountain Summit Stadium Seat to anyone looking for a relatively cheap and versatile seat. I haven’t mentioned it yet, but like the name implies, the seat would also be perfect for well, a stadium, while you’re watching the big game.
Let’s talk money: This campfire chair is just $29. I’d say this is a mid to expensive seat. You can find some for more money that might be a little comfier, but less versatile, and you will likely find some for less that are definitely less padded. It’s a great middle of the road pick!
